TOP FARMER INTELLIGENCE – Weekly Perspective by Bryan Doherty

THANKSGIVING

This past year has been filled with challenges and rewards. It’s time to reflect and give gratitude for all of the blessings bestowed upon us. From Top Farmer, we are very grateful for our readership. More importantly, we are grateful for the ability to serve farmers as they work diligently and hard to help feed the world. We are also grateful to be in an industry that is most noble of all. Your hard work and efforts make life easier for many, as they can afford to spend time with their family eating products you produce.

In recent weeks, cattle and dairy producers are thankful for the strong price recovery. These have been some of the best opportunities to sell in months. In the case of milk, the best opportunities in five years. Grain producers have had challenges all year. Price rallies did occur and helped provide for a stronger income this year than in perhaps the last two years. For many, however, this has been a year full of challenges, primarily weather-related. On one hand, we’re grateful for the opportunity to have those challenges. Yet, we understand this Thanksgiving may be somewhat challenging for many, as they may likely be in the field harvesting, due to a late crop. With that said, we know the spirit of the American farmer will push forward and look ahead to a prosperous 2020. We look forward to continuing to serve. Once again, take time to reflect, rest, and give thanks for the opportunity to work and live in the greatest county in the history of the world.
